Background

Denmark has one of the best health system on the globe! However, every year, more than two tons of medicine is destroyed in Denmark although the majority of it, is still fully usable and functional. In addition to this, Danish hospitals discard functional equipment worth millions of Danish kroners each year. This is mainly because of new technologies being implemented and the "outdated" instruments are replaced with newer and even more effective equipment.

Concept

The concept of Global Medical Aid is simple. For the benefit of developing countries, we collect usable medicine and hospital equipment. So far, we have donated to Afghanistan, Albania, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Nepal and Sri Lanka in collaboration with the concerned ministries of health and/or international organizations. In the long term, we are expecting to donate to additional countries. GMA is supported by DANIDA that covers the freight costs to the individual countries.
